Fountain Outside St Peter's Cathedral

Geneva - Day 3

I woke up well before the alarm this morning and went for a walk along the promenade as the sun was beginning to come up.  By the time I got back to the hostel Claire was just making her way to the breakfast hall.

After we were fed and watered we wandered up to the Palais des Nations, which is the central offices for the European branch of the UN.  We just about managed to get into the UN buildings before a group of loud school children turned up - a lucky escape.  The Palais des Nations, besides being beautiful buildings, is in an unbelievably attractive location.

Having finished our tour of the UN buildings we sprinted down along the promenade only to find that we'd missed the cruise by a couple of minutes!  To make up for this we decided to have our lunch by St Peter's Cathedral as this was possibly our favourite spot in the city.  After lunch we decided to walk all the way back to the Palais des Nations and visit the Red Cross Museum, which was next door.  We stayed there until we were booted out at closing time and went in search for something to eat for tea.  Plans were drawn up in order to ensure that we made it onto the Lake Geneva cruise tomorrow!
