Jet D'Eau in Geneva

Geneva - Day 1

I have enjoyed my previous visits to Switzerland and was really looking forward to this trip with Claire.  After what seemed like an eternity our taxi turned up (45 minutes late).  Then we fought our way through the huge queues at the airport to make it onto our plane with minutes to spare.  I certainly was not expecting such larges queues at 6:30 in the morning.

After our flight we made our way towards the trains station for the short journey into Gare Conavin, which is in the centre of Geneva.  Claire was amazed at how clean, quiet and efficient the trains were.  Welcome to central Europe where things actually work properly!!

The city is very attractive and the view along the waterfront, with the Jet D'Eau, is magnificent.  It struck us immediately how clean the city was.

We spent hours walking around the city taking in the Parc de la Grange and St Peter's Cathedral.  The old part of the city was reminiscent of a Parisian skyline.

In the evening, back at the hostel, we thrashed out the details of what we were going to see tomorrow.  It seemed like a good idea to have a walk along the waterfront again at night time which was a real treat.  The only problem was the cold which didn't really agree with Claire.  Still, we very much enjoyed our first day and were looking forward to tomorrow.
