Geneva with Mont Blanc in the Background

Geneva - Day 2

I didn't sleep too well due to snoring in the dorm, but that's hostelling for you!  After breakfast Claire and I made our way out to the English Garden to see the floral clock. This is about the only time of year that I can go near flowers without my hayfever kicking off and so the visit to the garden was a rare treat for me.

We had planned to take a cruise along Lake Geneva today, but seeing as we had some time before the boat was due to leave we decided to do some exploring.  We wanted to see the Servette area of the city and so headed off in that general direction.  It seemed like only a small amount of time had passed since we had started our trek but we had actually been walking for about two hours - and missed the cruise in the process!  Still, we were having too much fun wandering around the Servette area so we decided to forget our original plans and try to see as much as we could on foot today.  By the time we got back to the hostel at tea time we had walked twenty three miles and crossed the city in its entirety five times!

It has struck me just how attractive the architecture is in Geneva and how polite the people there are.  Having walked so much today we agreed that tomorrow should be a day of walking around museums to give our feet a rest.
