Sean and I had been trying to organise a weekend break for a
long time and now it was here. Due to
university commitments Claire could not make the trip. However, she did say that I could still go
to Amsterdam so I arranged it immediately!
To make things better just before I left for the airport I
heard that my beloved Inverness Caley Thistle had won the Scottish First
Division championship with a 3-1 win over St Johnstone. My club is in the Premier League for the
first time in its history. Sean and I
are up for a celebratory weekend now!!
Unfortunately, my flight was delayed by two hours. It passed relatively quickly and before I
knew it I was trying to decipher a Dutch ticket machine for the train to
Centraal station in Amsterdam. Somehow
I managed to get a single to Amsterdam.
I rang Sean, who had already arrived, and arranged to meet him at the
station. As soon as I got off the train
Sean was there waiting and we went off to our favourite hostel, the
Stadtsdoelen, where our previous travels have started from.
Due to the lateness of my arrival (23:00 by now) we checked
in to the hostel and went for some tea.
We found a place to eat and had a pint of Heineken each. I’m not much of a drinker at home but
Heineken in The Netherlands is good! We
spent most of our time catching up as it had been two months since we had last
seen each other.
Back at the hostel for 02:00 and straight to bed for
me. Sean decided to go out for a walk
but the next thing I knew was the alarm going off at 08:00, time to get up and
awake Sean! Next>>
