As always seems to be the case one of the people in my dorm
had an incredibly loud snore.
Nevertheless I persevered with my efforts to sleep and woke up at about
08:00 feeling much better.
I went for my shower and then spent the next two hours
carefully tending to my sunburn. By the
time I had finished I no longer looked like the elephant man and was also able
to open my mouth properly!
With today being the last of the trip, and reality just
around the corner , I made a couple of phone calls to catch up on the news
whilst I had been away. Whilst in Azau
I had been almost completely cut off from the outside world – and hot water!
Once again I fell out with the London Underground. Having checked out of the youth hostel I
headed for home. Unfortunately, Chelsea
were playing Portsmouth in a lunchtime kick-off. Once again guess who became very unpopular with an entire
carriage due to the size of his luggage?
I have to say that it is unlucky that my journey coincided with a load
of supporters going to a football match, but there you go.
I was relieved to have disembarked at London Euston and had
some lunch. Before long I was sat on
the train and heading back up north.
They long homeward journey was nearly complete.
Most people were complaining about the warm weather but for
me this was nothing compared to Azau.
Eventually I arrived at Halewood, after connecting at Liverpool Lime
Street. After making the walk home form
the train station real life started to appear in my life again. Shopping for food, catching up with my post,
emails, preparing for work. I was
beginning to wish I was back in Azau!
An experience shared is always an enhanced one and I
was delighted to share this week with Ron and Ryan. I am sure we will climb together in the future. All that is left to do now is rest my body,
find a cure for my chest problem and start planning the next trip…
